Frequently Asked Questions About Our ELDT CDL Training

We have tried to answer all the questions you may have, but if we have missed any, please contact us and we will be happy to help.

Beginning on February 7, 2022 federal law requires that you complete an ELDT (Entry Level Driver’s Training) program prior to taking your CDL test.  The ELDT training consists of a theory portion and behind-the-wheel (BTW) portion.  You can take the theory portion of the ELDT training right here at OnlineCDLCourse.com regardless of what state you live in because we are a FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) approved training provider.  You can enroll in the ELDT theory course here.

If you have not gotten your CDL learner’s permit yet, we recommend that you wait until after you have completed this course because it will teach you all you need to know to pass your permit test.

Once you have completed the theory portion of the ELDT training, you can schedule your behind-the-wheel training at an approved BTW training provider. Upon completion of this course, we will upload your training record into the FMCSA TPR (Training Provider Registry) database.  The BTW training provider will verify in the TPR that you have completed the ELDT theory portion of the training prior to scheduling your BTW training.

Once you complete the BTW training, you will be able to schedule your CDL skills test at a state DMV or Third Party Examiner.
